Fans of the acclaimed Moto 360 can pencil in more wearable technology from Motorola soon, a mover and shaker at the gadget-maker has disclosed.

Motorola made a splash last year with the round screen-toting 360, which stood out as the first smartwatch that didn't look like a hulking great smartphone strapped to users' wrists.

Since then we've had nothing wearable from the House of Moto. But that's about to change soon, according to Magnus Ahlqvist, Corporate Vice President, EMEA & APAC, at Motorola.

Asked if plans are afoot for more wearables this year, he said: "Yes. I can't comment on which ones, but we have.

"We have some interesting things coming in the coming quarters."

Ahlqvist also expounded on the company's approach to wearable tech and the reasons he thought Motorola had made such an impact in the nascent space.

He explained: "If you looked at what we have done in the last 6/12 months, in terms of the Moto 360 and Moto Hint.

"The most fundamental thing we asked ourselves: what do people really look for in a smartwatch. Our thinking was, what they are really looking for is a watch - a good-looking timepiece.

"We then integrated a lot of technology, to make sure it was adding quite a lot to value from a technical perspective."
